Job Summary: Oracle Database Administrator (Boston, MA)
- Role: Oracle Database Administrator (Hybrid 2 days onsite in Boston, MA)
- Duration: 12+ Month Contract-to-Hire
- Client: BNY Mellon
- Compensation: $75/hr on W2
- Visa Requirements: Who can work on W2
- Interview Process: 2-step video interviews with end Client
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform advanced Oracle performance tuning using AWR reports, execution plans, traces, indexing, partitioning, and SQL optimization.
- Conduct deep root-cause analysis for performance issues.
- Validate and demonstrate strong SQL, SQL*Plus, PL/SQL, and Korn shell scripting skills, especially in automation, database refreshes, patching, and maintenance.
- Diagnose Linux OS issues (memory, network, and I/O) and correlate findings with Oracle database performance.
- Manage and support large, multi-terabyte Oracle databases in high-pressure production environments.
- Provide basic-to-intermediate RAC, ASM, and Grid support.
- Efficiently handle and prioritize multiple concurrent incidents (e.g., multiple P1 and P2 tickets) via ServiceNow.
- Independently learn new technologies and adapt quickly, especially in high-urgency situations.
Required Experience & Skills:
- 8+ years of hands-on Oracle Database Administration experience, including Oracle 19c.
- Demonstrated expertise in Oracle performance tuning and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in Korn shell scripting (highly preferred).
- Strong SQL and PL/SQL skills for diagnostics and performance analysis.
- Advanced knowledge of Linux OS and system administration.
- Experience with large-scale, production database environments.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
- Ability to prioritize and resolve multiple high-severity issues simultaneously.
